  1. Boost Mobile has a Wifi plan for $50 for 10gb / 30 days and a hot spot for another $50. Seems like a good deal to me. Boost uses Sprint so feel sure it should work at Daytona! Has anyone had any experience with Boost? https://www.boostmobile.com/#!/shop/plans/wifi-hotspots/
  2. No rain at Daytona this year...right?

Its an easy way to tell drivers apart in the photos.   And LOTS cheaper than a painted helmet!

Yeah...we do colored magnets around the car. Now, if I can just get the drivers to mark their gloves with their names so I can figure out the GoPro footage easier without looking at the file creation details. UGH...drivers!!!! LMAO

  3. Did anyone find a good hot spot / mobile WiFi no contract plan?
  4. Turn 6 incident. (NSFW - I did a poor job editing and there is an expletive at the end.)
  5. I don't think you have the ability with straight talk to know the carrier, or manually change the carrier, but I may be wrong. We went with them because they were the cheapest. After the failures at WGI and RA, its probably time to consider another option.
  6. Straight Talk is the Walmart phone. They use other carriers, but not sure who, what, when, etc. From the web: Straight Talk is a type of carrier known as an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator), which means that it doesn't run or own a wireless network. Instead, it purchases the right to use towers from AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint.
  7. Correct the 30 day no contract service plans. I get either the $45 - 5GB for one day races and the $55 - 10GB plan for multi day races. https://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/shop/serviceplans
  8. We used a Straight Talk plan last year at WGI. It worked really good in the pits, but lost signal as soon as we got on track. We tried it many times over three days and it never worked for us. But at Daytona, Sebring, Barber and COTA it was fine. Last weekend at Road Atlanta it was bad.
  9. We use a Straight Talk phone and data plan for our live streaming. We ran it for one session on Friday practice and it worked fine. We did not change any settings, but could not get it to stream correctly on Sat. It was extremely glitchy and unwatchable. Any thoughts ideas? Could it be the high number of cellular users on Sat overloaded the system? But others were streaming fine, so kind of confused on this one.
  10. Does anyone have an experience with cell service around the track? At WGI we had great service in the paddock, but lost service once on track.
  11. We are trying for Sat afternoon / evening - IF the rain stays away. Lots of new toys will be on the track.
  12. In an email dated Dec 20: Gates - Remember the summer race? Access to the paddock will open at 5pm Friday. Another organization has the track and we will not be allowed in until after they finish. Line up along the main central road untill we are allowed in.
  13. Thanks for the audio of the track officials. I haven't volunteered yet, nor done any corner work, so it was good to hear how the race is managed.
  14. I was looking at this over the weekend. Is there a daily schedule anywhere? Camping is $400 so only looking to head down one day.
