Number Panel Light

Searched and could not find the thread from before?

Two questions:

1. I know the chump-store does not sell the original number panel lights anymore.  Does anyone have a source to where I can get some identical or mostly similar lights?  My 146 car had both smashed at the last race, so I should probably replace them.   It would be nice if I could just unplug, unbolt, and replace instead of having to drill and splice.

2. What is the new hot ticket for door panel lighting?  EL panels? Reflective numbers? LED strips in the shape of numbers?  Nixie Lights?  The new car needs number panels, and I am trying to plan my setup.

Thanks

It is. Many people are doing it. Huggy, just westhpack the pos and neg of the lights. Then you can undo them as you please.

These days: All which matters is "can the folks in the tower read it"; if not, well, if you *really* wanted to be scored, you'd have lit up your number properly.... :)

Actually, scoring just needs the transponder.  The corners need the number to report our bad driving... :)

Not always -- if the transponder is faulty, or misinstalled, trying to identify the car number as it passes so we can credit it with the laps done is necessary. (I can speak to this, having actually done it... at Portland... in the Usual Portland Weather... at night. :) )
