  1. Official - Change

Anyone remember the Eddie Murphy movie "The Distinguished Gentleman" where the slogan "the name you know" got him elected to Congress through false name recognition? ChampCar Endurance really has nothing to do with the former organization, but hey, it's "the name you know". ChumpCar had forged its own credibility and can stand on its own without hijacking someone else's history. SMH. In related news, Lemons is now calling itself the 24 Heures du Mans. It's the name you know.
  2. I run Douglas tires on my Lemons car. It's fun to run joke tires in a joke series. Seriously, everyone comes out of the car with an ear-to-ear grin. Slippery is fun. And they last for 2 races (30 hours) easily. $40 each. I would love to see a series where Douglas was the spec tire.
  3. Here's another way to add a couple gallons to a stock Miata fuel tank. The vent tube position leaves a lot of empty space at the top of the tank. I would never modify my fuel tank, of course.
  4. This is 2 weeks before the Lucky Dog race, which was announced a while ago. I don't know if it's your intention or not, but teams will have to choose. We'll see...
  5. FWD econoboxes like Toyota Echo, Nissan Versa, Hyundai Accent have no business being 275-350 points. That was my focus.
  6. My bad, VPI table is perfect as is.
  7. And some 350 pointers (Mirage and Stealth)
  8. Just a couple 275 point cars (Accent & Integra).
  9. One of these is 300 points, the other 200... (CRX & Versa)
  10. One of these cars is 350 points, the other is 200. Guess which is which (MR2 & Echo).
  11. Wow, 14 people. How will I know who to vote for? It would be great if each nominee would answer a couple of standard open-ended questions to get an idea of where they stand. Here's a stab at that. Q1: Are you more concerned with speed creep or cost creep? Q2: What is your position on creative engineering? What should be free if you can make it? Q3: What is your position on how classes should be organized? Should there be just one trophy class or several? Should there be sub-classes with prizes (as displacement is now)? If so, would you organize them differently? Q4: What is the #1 thing you would change if you could?
  12. 4 things to not go cheap on

I got Baofeng UV-5Rs for $25 each. Programming software is free and not so difficult to install. I chose legal frequencies and powers and gave the channels convenient names. The radios show the team name on startup and then go right to the default channel. I've programmed radios for 2 teams and another is sending me their radios because they don't want to bother. Happy to do the same for other teams.
  13. I don't really care where he was born, but I do need his CC number so I can officially nominate him.
  14. I would vote for this dude.
