  1. The pit bug is a workaround, but the netcode issue at Laguna is still not remedied - iRacing themselves are rescheduling official series (see RUF Cup) around this, so I was not willing to impose that on our ChampCar community.
  2. Creating iRacing Liveries

Thanks Travis! Adding trading paints definitely adds to the enjoyment I have of iRacing, as it enables you to see and display more detailed and idiosyncratic liveries. Our team has had fun translating our real life paint scheme to the virtual Miata; although it's a different vintage of car the resemblance is still close enough to enjoy practicing for future Champcar events: https://imgur.com/a/55Hwf
  3. The released patch this morning did not apparently fix either Laguna or pitstop issue, so we are moving the round tonight to Sebring. Sorry to all our west coast friends, we'll hopefully be visiting again soon!
  4. Thanks guys. There is a hotfix being deployed by iRacing tomorrow morning. If this addresses both issues then we will stick with the setup as it is; if not then I will update the session with an updated setup for the Miata to prevent a pit stop being required. Note for those that are forced into a pitstop in any case - taking all 4 tires will usually prevent the bug from occurring.
  5. Our first foray to the west (best?) coast this week, with a practice round in preparation for the upcoming ChampCar race at Laguna Seca. Same format as Barber; default weather, required pitstop, and rolling start. Please note that the start times are 30 minutes later this week, as we do our best to accommodate our colleagues on PST. The best laid plans of Miatas and men often go awry..... Due to iRacing still dealing with a netcode bug that precludes any sort of side-by-side racing down the start-finish straight at Laguna Seca, we unfortunately have to change the venue of tonight's race to Sebring (in preparation for the next event on the ChampCar on the calendar). However, we will be running the Club configuration of the circuit as we will run the full config in a subsequent event. Please note as well that the Miata setup will have sufficient fuel to finish the race due to an ongoing pit bug specific to this car. Please note that if you do need to pit in the race, please take all 4 tires - this will reduce the risk of the bug impacting your race. Session Details Date: Thursday, 14-December-2017 Practice Start: 6:00pm EST Qualifying Start: 8:00pm EST Race Start: 9:15pm EST Cars: Street Stock, 2016 Global Mazda Cup Track: Sebring Club Weather: iRacing Default Setup: Fixed, Baseline (Miata), Modified Baseline (Street Stock) Any questions, please let us know in this thread, and we look forward to seeing everyone on track!
  6. Sebring practice

Laguna Seca this week, then Sebring for the next two!
  7. I will change each fixed setup to force a pitstop for both cars. Because of the relative rates of fueling (and fuel consumption) this is always a hindrance to the street stock, but it does force an extra aspect of strategy and traffic management, much like a real ChampCar race.
  8. Yep, same iRacing baseline for the Miata, so you will need a quick stop for fuel in both cars.
  9. Barber Practice Race 12/7

Session is created, all details in the new thread here:
  10. Moving further south for the next in our series of practice races, this time setting the mood for the upcoming ChampCar round in Alabama at the beautiful Barber Motorsports Park. Session setup is much the same as the previous round, the only changes being a race length of 45 minutes and a rolling start. We are also using a slightly modified baseline setup for the Street Stock that should make the car more comfortable to drive. Session Details Date: Thursday, 07-December-2017 Practice Start: 6:00pm EST Qualifying Start: 8:00pm EST Race Start: 9:15pm EST Cars: Street Stock, 2016 Global Mazda Cup Track: Barber Full Weather: iRacing Default Setup: Fixed, Baseline (Miata), Modified Baseline (Street Stock) Any questions, please let us know in this thread, and we look forward to seeing everyone on track!
  11. Barber Practice Race 12/7

Thanks @Doc - session details will be posted tonight!
  12. Barber Practice Race 12/7

Thanks Kyle - we're still finalizing the details for the race on Thursday, I will post the eventual session details here, probably tonight. It's unlikely we will implement FCY on road courses in the Championship, as they don't work well on iRacing - we'd be likely to spend over 50% of an hour long race at pacing speeds. The purpose of the current practice rounds is to establish a baseline session format that will be carried forward into 2018 with consistency.
  13. ChampCar Sim League Schedule

There will be a race at Barber, similar format to last week's event at VIR. Details will be posted on Tuesday evening.
  14. @Bremsen - there's no way of segregating setup parameters, it's either fixed or open. Initially we've made the series fixed setup in order to make the racing more accessible to the many newcomers that we're anticipating taking part. However, it's possible we may move to using alternate fixed setups for the Street Stock and Miata that differ from the baseline but provide a more stable and consistent car. We'll update on any changes if and when they're made and provide all fixed setups available for download ahead of any events that use them.
  15. Reminder that this event is tonight, hope to see a few out there practicing for VIR!
