Official Gingerman 2017

It actually appears that Gingerman changed there mind since sending me that email.

They are stating the new format will be  20 minute sessions and alternating the track with street cars.  ?

I think that's a fine format for a test day. We don't need any more than 20 minutes per session to bed brakes and get new drivers acquainted with the car. Just a little inconvenient because you have to pay attention to the schedule.

My complaint is that they changed the format so drastically...

now each driver will only be able to get one session in per day which doesn't allow for multiple setup changes in a test day.

It is what it is, we are just happy to go racing!

Never saw it as anything other than 3 run groups on the website, think Marybeth just got confused.  That said, you can still run all day, it just costs $600 instead of $200, and you have to roll through pit lane every 20 minutes.  The track workers at Gingerman are used to Chumpers registering for multiple run groups - we do it all the time.

I was actually told we were not allowed to do this.  Evidently the street cars don't want to be out on track with us Chumps

Was it the $600 entry fee or the fun track that filled this one up?  Don't know, but load that car up and head to MI!

I love Gingerman.  MI is beautiful in summer and the track is so welcoming.  I'm even more excited that a full track of you agreed and will be racing with us next weekend!  Read along to get some answers to common questions and find out where you'll be pitting.

Gates - The main gate will open at 7am on Friday.

Camping - Paddock camping is allowed on Friday and Saturday night.  Gingerman is charging $10/person/night.

Concessions - Food will be available Saturday and Sunday at the concessions stand.
Tech - If you have not had your annual tech for 2017, bring your car through the tech line along with all your paperwork filled out.  Make sure you have read the rules.  Swap cars with no paperwork will likely be put in EC unless tech is in a good mood.

Registration - If you are already tech'd, bring your yellow logbook directly to registration.  Before you arrive,
log in and check your driver roster for accuracy.  Make any corrections ahead of time.  If you are paid with the correct drivers, check-in is a 3 minute process.  If you are not coming (work issue, car issue, etc), email me to let me know you will not be there.

Pit Setup - Pit road will be open for you to setup your pits between noon and 5pm on Friday.

Test Session - Gingerman is hosting a test day on Friday.  The cost is $200 per car.  Go to their website to register

Pit Assignments - Here are your pit assignments.

A reminder: read through and print out the Supplemental Rules for this event here.

If you have any questions about registration, please contact Chelsey Vickery here.  Any other questions you can contact me here.

We're looking forward to seeing you all in MI!

Its summer in South Haven....    lake, something something, beach, something, tourism, profit.

There are a few cabins just north of the track on Air BNB - 150/night for 4 beds.   Looks sort of like an out-door dormitory style (individual cabins with kitchen and a large shared bath-house).

Weather outlook is pretty good so far, track only charges $10/night for camping.   Plus that way you don't have to worry about how many margaritas Red serves you.

We have 6 people sharing a double wide trailer air BnB for $200 a night this race. last year we had probably 8-10 people in a similar setup.

Hotels are always insane crazy, driving miss daisy around Gingerman. For the 2015 WRL race, 4-5 teams split a huge place. It ended up being like $25 per person for the weekend.

Since my birthday is Sunday and the wife is coming to the race, we decided to leave early, going to be spending the night in Kalamazoo and hitting up Bells and some of the local scene there tonight!

And to the above, hotels are way overpriced, go Air BnB or one of the other rental sites and get better deals, plus you can cook your own meals and not pay a bunch on food too!

I wish you all good luck.  I'll be pulling weeds, putting up vanity lights, bathroom mirrors, etc to get ready for the rehearsal dinner at my house next weekend.

Oh the woes of domestic life.  You'll be missed.     Maybe Bill can stop by and let you take the Mini Van for spin.....you know, a little glimpse into the future.  Little Tyler and his four sisters fighting in the back seats.

Hit up Arcadia as well.  Awesome BBQ and top notch beers.  Sweet out-door patio.  Very close to Bells.
